You’ve probably heard the term hard water in the past, but what exactly does it mean? Here’s the breakdown.
Hard water is an over saturation of calcium and magnesium in your water. You may see hardness calculated in parts per million (ppm) or in milligrams per liter (mg/L), or you may see it calculated in grains per gallon (gpg). Anything above 50ppm or 3 grains per gallon is considered hard water that can cause scale, and damage pipes, appliances and surfaces. Other damages from hard water include dry or itchy skin and hair, soaps not working properly and white water spotting and stains on glasses, dishes and silverware.
So what do you do about it? That’s where water softeners come in.
Water Softeners remove the calcium and magnesium from the water. Installing a water softener in your home can save you up to 75% in soap usage, 75% in cleaning products and will protect your home’s pipes and appliances and give them a longer lifespan. Also your baths and showers will feel spa, like giving you much softer hair and skin.
